Dutch companies, institutions and higher education institutions spent €18.4 billion on research and development in 2020 (CBS, 2022). Huge investments in R&D… which unfortunately barely lead to valorisation. And if innovative products and services do find their way to the market, it turns out that roughly 90% of start-ups will cease to exist within five years.
Why start-ups fail? No market need for their products or services, no money (anymore), not the right team or too strong a group of competitors (CB Insights, 2021). Start-ups do not fail because they are bursting with energy and ambition, they fail because they are insufficiently able to organize and commercialize. There is an enormous challenge to successfully translate R&D investments into well-functioning products and services that ensure that companies are sustainably profitable and (continue to) grow. A challenge for venture builders.

In the 2021-2025 period, Inventurinq wants to grow into a platform that focuses on innovation and co-entrepreneurship in – and the creation of synergies between – purpose-driven and disruptive start-ups, scale-ups and mature SMEs. Its own innovation ecosystem maximizes the chance of success through a shared mindset, shared facilities and (access to) financing.
